Thad's

Sunday we had PERFECT weather for outside shopping, so my better half and better quarter headed down to Old Town Spring in the hunt for some fun toys for G-Man.  To our disapointement, our favorite toy store was c-l-o-s-e-d.

Now, no trip is wasted when you head to Old Town Spring when you stop at Thad's.  I discovered this little gem quite a few years back, when I lived in Clear Lake and a neighbor introduced me to this side of town.  She specifically brought me down there to go to this fabulous shop.

This beautiful white bowl is what I found then.  It has been in three of my homes.  Each with a different style.  Unfortunately I can't find the picture of it in Clear Lake, where I had it filled with all kinds of gords on my dining room table.
My bowl's second incarnation:  Victorian home in OK

In its current location - a Modern French home in TX

Cut to now... As I walked into the store, the welcoming vignette by the front door showcases no other than the latest design color trend for 2010:  Turquoise.  I wouldn't expect anything less from this shop.

For a whole blog dedicated to this color, read houseofturquoise.
There is something for everyone here.  First of, G-Man.  He has a thing for owls, so Thad's did not disappoint.

The owl trend has been around for a couple of years, but I think it has staying power since it is not cute-sy

For a cool little blog entry on owls, read this entry at purestylehome.

The empty spot is where G-Man's owl used to sit.

Now it sits here, so my son can spot it whenever he is playing in this room

Steve wouldn't leave without something.  He spotted these:

Flying pigs

But settled for one of these to take shelter at his man cave upstairs

But I think it looks great on my desk...

These are my finds...

I loved these mats

The 'Mora' clock

Crowns and Peacocks
Awesome wrapping paper
Posters and Stationary - I wish I had more fotos of their cool stationary selections...
But most of all... I fell in LOVE with these fantastic mirrors

For an interesting entry on the new mirror on furniture trend, read this entry at cococozy.

Is it possible to fall in love with an inanimate object?! - I have even had dreams about this mirror!!!!

And here is the brain and talent behind Thad's, my host, Thad.  He told me he has plans to start a blog to showcase all of the new treasures he finds.  I would follow it.  :)  Thank you so much for letting me share your fabulous shop with my readers and friends.

Those flying pigs are really interesting! They remind me the flying monkeys(Winged Monkeys) from the Wizard of Oz! Really liked them... I guess it's because they are also excentric!
